generally liberation from suffering in samsara, spec. in the Great Way state of perfection (Buddhahood). The well-known translation with 'extinguishing' is correct, but means that everything that hinders one from enlightenment extinguishes - these are all disturbing feelings including any kind of ignorance (= concepts, ideas, notions, opinions, etc.).
